The Cashless Society Arrives in Africa

Nigerian Government partners with MasterCard to launch “Multipurpose” National Identity Smart Card

It was recently announced at the World Economic Forum in Cape Town, South Africa that MasterCard and the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) under the government of Nigeria would form a partnership to distribute a new identity card to every Nigerian citizen.  The purpose of the card is to have all Nigerian citizens participate in the financial services sector under the control of MasterCard, a multinational financial services corporation headquartered in New York.  MasterCard’s press release ‘MasterCard to Power Nigerian Identity Card Program’ stated:
As part of the program, in its first phase, Nigerians 16 years and older, and all residents in the country for more than two years, will get the new multipurpose identity card which has 13 applications including MasterCard’s prepaid payment technology that will provide cardholders with the safety, convenience and reliability of electronic payments. This will have a significant and positive impact on the lives of these Nigerians who have not previously had access to financial services.

The program is also designed to move Nigeria into a cashless society, one that is dependent on financial institutions, Wall Street and the Nigerian government.  It will be managed by the financial elites of Wall Street, technocrats and of course Washington.  All forms of financial transactions would be exchanged through plastic credit and debit cards that would have implanted RFID chips.

Aspartame Linked to Leukemia & Lymphoma in Groundbreaking Study

Each year, Americans consume about 5,250 tons of aspartame in total, of which about 86 percent (4,500 tons) is from the consumption of diet sodas. Diet soda is the largest dietary source of aspartame in the U.S. A study recently published at the beginning of December 2012 links the consumption of Aspartame to increased risk of Lymphoma and Leukemia. The study was conducted by the Channing Division of Network Medicine, Department of Medicine, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA and Nutrition, Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA. The study was a follow up after a 22 year period of data collection including health frequent dietary and health check ups of the study group.

The combined results of this new study showed that just one 12-fl oz. can (355 ml) of diet soda daily leads to:
- 42 percent higher leukemia risk in men and women (pooled analysis)
- 102 percent higher multiple myeloma risk (in men only)
- 31 percent higher non-Hodgkin  lymphoma risk (in men only)
http://www.federaljack.com/tag/aspartame/

If previous research on the subject was not enough, there is now undeniable evidence that suggests we should not be consuming aspartame at all in our diet. Switching over to sugar sweetened soda is also not a good alternative as this study also found that men consuming one or more sugar-sweetened sodas daily saw a 66 percent increase in non-Hodgkin lymphoma. It has become clear that having no soda at all in our diet is the ideal way to go. This would not only remove the aspartame and sugar risks, but it will also help in keeping your body in a more alkaline state.

Don't forget that aspartame was invented in Germany during World War II and was originally an embalming agent.

Flavored Milk; Petition to Amend the Standard of Identity for Milk and 17 Additional Dairy Products

This petition is to include sweeteners such aspartame in the definition of "milk" so that it can be covertly included as an ingredient without having to label it as such.  This is another example of the trend toward removing the nutrients from food and replacing them with toxins.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing that the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA) and the National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF) have filed a petition requesting that the Agency amend the standard of identity for milk and 17 other dairy products to provide for the use of any safe and suitable sweetener as an optional ingredient. FDA is issuing this notice to request comments, data, and information about the issues presented in the petition.

Law 'Irrelevant', Says White House Adviser
May 20, 2013

White House senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said Sunday the question of whether any laws were broken in the Internal Revenue Scandal is “irrelevant” to the fact that the agency’s actions were wrong and unjustifiable.

“I can’t speak to the law here. The law is irrelevant,” Pfefiffer said on ABC News’s “This Week With George Stephanopoulos.” “The activity was outrageous and inexcusable, and it was stopped and it needs to be fixed to ensure it never happens again.”

Obama Whistleblower Prosecutions Lead To Chilling Effect On Press

NEW YORK -– On April 9, McClatchy’s Jonathan Landay reported that the Obama administration has “targeted and killed hundreds of suspected lower-level Afghan, Pakistani and unidentified ‘other’ militants” in drone strikes, a revelation thatcontradicts previous administration claims of pursuing only senior-level operatives who pose an imminent threat to the United States.
It was an investigative story clearly in the public interest, shedding new light on the government’s long-running targeted-killing program in Pakistan. But now Landay, a veteran national security reporter for the McClatchy newspaper chain, is concerned that the Obama administration could next investigate him in hopes of finding the sources for “top-secret U.S. intelligence reports” cited in the story. “Do I think that they could come after me?” Landay asked, in an interview with The Huffington Post. “Yes.”
“I can tell you that people who normally would meet with me, sort of in a more relaxed atmosphere, are on pins and needles,” Landay said of the reporting climate during the Obama years, a period of unprecedented whistleblower prosecutions. The crackdown on leaks, he added, seems “deliberately intended to have a chilling effect.”
Landay isn’t alone in that assessment, as several investigative journalists attest in“War on Whistleblowers: Free Press and the National Security State,” a timely documentary directed by Robert Greenwald of Brave New Foundation that premieres this week in New York and Washington. The film details the ordeals of four whistleblowers who turned to the press in order to expose waste or illegality.
“The Obama administration's been extremely aggressive in trying to root out whistleblowers within the government,” NBC News investigative reporter Michael Isikoff says in the film. The New Yorker’s Jane Mayer, describing the secrecy required in her reporting for a profile of whistleblower Thomas Drake amid government prosecution, said the experience didn’t “feel [like] America, land of the free press.”
Drake, a former senior executive of the National Security Agency, says in the film, "it's extremely dangerous in America right now to be right as a whistleblower when the government is so wrong." He adds: "speaking truth to power is now a criminal act."
...
Those men have been fired, prosecuted, or shunned because they spoke out. The government accountability advocates who have been forced to defend them, meanwhile, said they were worried the Obama and Bush administrations' aggressive actions against them have chilled future whistle-blowing.
"I've talked to a number of people who've made it clear ... that they are too afraid for their jobs," said Danielle Brian, the executive director of the Project On Government Oversight. "You have a combination of the fear of prosecution and this economy. If they lose this job, they might not be able to pay for groceries."
...
"We perform a vital function in a democracy like the United States, the few there are of us, the few whistleblowers," Landay said. "The harder the government tries to control critical information, the more damage it does to the quality of our democracy."

Soybean Farmer Loses Supreme Court Challenge To Biotech Giant Monsanto

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of Monsanto Monday, in a major challenge to the biotech giant’s dominant market share over soybeans. Justice Elena Kagan held in a narrow ruling that farmer Victor “Hugh” Bowman violated Monsanto’s patent over its pervasive herbicide-resistant soybeans when it utilized the common practice of saving seeds from a first growing season and replanting them for a second, without paying Monsanto for the use of its technology every year. Monsanto’s “Roundup Ready” seeds are used to grow about 90 percent of the nation’s soybean crop, and food safety experts say the vigorous patent enforcement has led to skyrocketing seed pricesand less innovation by smaller firms.

Victor “Hugh” Bowman has been battling the corporation since 2007, when Monsanto sued him for violating their patent protection by purchasing second-generation GM seeds from a grain elevator.

Monsanto is notorious among farmers for the company’s aggressive investigations and pursuit of farmers they believe have infringed on Monsanto’s patents. In the past 13 years, Monsanto has sued 410 farmers and 56 small farm businesses, almost always settling out of court (the few farmers that can afford to go to trial are always defeated). These farmers were usually sued for saving second-generation seeds for the next harvest — a basic farming practice rendered illegal because seeds generated by GM crops contain Monsanto’s patented genes.

Monsanto’s winning streak hinges on a controversial Supreme Court decision from 1981, which ruled on a 5-4 split that living organisms could be patented as private property. As a result of that decision, every new generation of GM seeds — and their self-replicating technology — is considered Monsanto’s property.
Unfortunately, second- and third-generation seeds are very hard to track, which may explain why Monsanto devotes $10 million a year and 75 staffers to investigating farmers for possible patent violations. Seeds are easily carried by birds or blown by the wind into fields of non-GM seeds, exposing farmers who have never bought seeds from Monsanto to lawsuits. Organic and conventional seeds are fast becoming extinct — 93 percent of soybeans, 88 percent of cotton, and 86 percent of corn in the US are grownfrom Monsanto’s patented seeds. A recent study discovered that at least half of the organic seeds in the US are contaminated with some genetically modified material.

The Big One: Preparing for mid-America earthquake
It’s a bleak scenario. A massive earthquake along the New Madrid fault kills or injures 60,000 people in Tennessee. A quarter of a million people are homeless. The Memphis airport — the country’s biggest air terminal for packages — goes off-line. Major oil and gas pipelines across Tennessee rupture, causing shortages in the Northeast. In Missouri, another 15,000 people are hurt or dead. Cities and towns throughout the central U.S. lose power and water for months. Losses stack up to hundreds of billions of dollars.

The quake occurred in the Western Quebec seismic zone. The effects were reported felt from London, Canada, to Montreal, even going into New York and Vermont.

Mount Saint Helens 'Reloading' For Future Eruption

6.8 Chile earthquake strikes off the coast
The quake was recorded at 5:49 a.m. local time (EDT; 0949 GMT) Monday, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), some 600 kilometers (370 miles) from the city of Puerto Quellon. No tsunami warning was issued. Chile's naval seismology office says it was not felt on land. U.S. seismologists originally estimated the magnitude at 6.8.

It said the quake's epicentre was located southwest of Barbuda, part of the Antigua and Barbuda federation. At the end of last month, a 5.1 degree temblor shook the Caribbean and tremors were felt in Trinidad and Tobago a few days ago.

Large earthquake strikes off coast of Chile
The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 has struck off the coast of Chile. The quake was recorded at 5:49 a.m. local time (EDT; 0949 GMT) Monday, at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), some 600 kilometers (370 miles) from the city of Puerto Quellon. No tsunami warning was issued.

Japan hit by an earthquake of 6.1 magnitude
A strong 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck off the northern coast of Japan's main Honshu island today, seismologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued and there were no immediate reports of damage. The quake hit at 2:48 pm (0548 GMT) in the Pacific some 50 kilometres from Namie town near the tsunami-ravaged Fukushima Daiichi plant, the United States Geological Survey said.

Police Search Door to Door After Mother’s Day Shooting in New Orleans

19 people were wounded in New Orleans over the weekend when an alleged gang shootout broke out in the middle of a mothers day parade.  three suspects are still at large, and the hunt for them so far has involved similar tactics as those used in Boston.  At this point there is no indication that this was a planned terrorist attack, but regardless, police are still using the full on storm trooper approach that has now become commonplace in the western world.
“There were over 300 people participating in the event, north of the city.   Police say that the number of victims stands at 12 and there are three suspects who were responsible.   The individuals who did the shooting were seen running toward Claiborne Avenue and a door-to-door search is being conducted to find those who are responsible.”
While a number of mainstream media sources are reporting that door to door searchers are being conducted, there is no outrage or even concern for the innocent human beings who are having their rights and privacy violated by jackboot thugs.  It is definitely true that this is tragic circumstance, but tragic circumstances are no excuse to violate the rights and privacy of others.  It is definitely upsetting when these kinds of things happen, but we should not let our good-natured emotions be used against us.

With that being said this investigation is also being crowd sourced, and it is likely that people nearby with cell phone camera evidence will make a lot more progress than police breaking down doors.
“An initial $2,500 cash reward was initially offered, which was later raised to $10,000 amid the massive manhunt for parade shooting suspects. The money is offered to anyone who can provide information that will help track down and arrest the suspects.  In the same way investigators of the Boston Marathon Bombings appealed for crowdsourced photographs, police have urged anyone with any images from the ‘second line’ of the parade to step forward.”
As of now there has been no indication as to whether the police even know who they are looking for or not.  We will bring more details on this story as they become available, and if you have any information about this situation please feel free to comment below.

Our Civil Liberties, RIP

Both the left and the right are enabling the emerging police state

The Tea Partiers’ problem is that their protests come far too late – because the legal and political precedents targeting dissident groups were established long ago, with the full complicity and even enthusiastic support of most of those who call themselves “conservatives” these days. The “Patriot” Act – passed with conservative support – gives the government the “right” to not only spy on such groups, it also gives them the means to spy on anyone, for any reason, as well as the prosecutorial “tools” to put them away forever. Law enforcement agencies have set up “fusion centers” in order to collect information on American citizens who might be considered a “threat.” A recentreport on “right-wing extremism” issued by the Department of Homeland Security” listed groups local law enforcement should keep tabs on, including members of the Libertarian and Constitution parties, as well as Ron Paul supporters. Efforts by the FBI and local police to infiltrate and set up members of the “Occupy” movement have been widespread.
Perhaps the Tea Partiers are unfamiliar with the long history of government repression of marginalized ideological groupings: during the 1960s, the FBI’s “Cointelpro” program targeted left-wing and black nationalist groups, sending in infiltrators, organizing disruption, and setting up prominent activists for “legal” repression.
While right and left go at each other, the machinery of repression is being readied. The most recent – and chilling – example: a recent Pentagon-initiated change to the US Code would give military commanders powers equal to the President in wartime. As the revised language of the Code puts it:
“Federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the President is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances.”
When is it “impossible” for the President to duly authorize military action? This is never defined. What is “temporary”? This, too, goes undefined. And what about theInsurrection and Posse Comitatus Acts which limit and regulate the manner in which the military may intervene in domestic affairs? The revised regulations eviscerate both acts, and throw the door wide open to rule by the military in an ill-defined “emergency.” And hardly anybody notices!

Pentagon Unilaterally Grants Itself Authority Over ‘Civil Disturbances’

The manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspects offered the nation a window into the stunning military-style capabilities of our local law enforcement agencies. For the past 30 years, police departments throughout the United States have benefitted from the government’s largesse in the form of military weaponry and training, incentives offered in the ongoing “War on Drugs.” For the average citizen watching events such as the intense pursuit of the Tsarnaev brothers on television, it would be difficult to discern between fully outfitted police SWAT teams and the military.
The lines blurred even further Monday as a new dynamic was introduced to the militarization of domestic law enforcement. By making a few subtle changes to a regulation in the U.S. Code titled“Defense Support of Civilian Law Enforcement Agencies” the military has quietly granted itself the ability to police the streets without obtaining prior local or state consent, upending a precedent that has been in place for more than two centuries.

"Mom, they did bad things to me" - insider at OKC airport shares shocking info on alleged TSA abuses

“A woman in her late 30’s or early 40’s approached me and asked if I could help her,” Stacy recalls. “She told me that ‘those people in the blue uniforms took my daughter in that back room and she’s been gone for a long time.’”

Stacy confirmed to the worried mother that that “room” was where “special handling” and “interrogations” and “strip searches” take place.

Stacy said the mother was getting frantic. They were going to miss their flight. She said they were traveling out of state from southeastern Oklahoma and that her daughter was in a beauty pageant.

“I’d say she was about 14, maybe even 16,” Stacy said. “She eventually came out of the interrogation room and was shaking and appeared as if she had been crying. She was very attractive and looked young. She came up to her mother and said, ‘Mom, they did bad things to me.’ The mother, shocked, held her hand over her mouth and said, ‘Oh, my God!’”

Red Dirt Report, editor

OKLAHOMA CITY – While the IRS is getting a lot of bad publicity these days in light of their overt abuses of power and tyrannical behavior, another government agency just as loathed among many Americans is the blue-shirted TSA.

Officially known as the Transportation Safety Administration, this intrusive, abusive and infuriating agency, which, to date, has not caught one terrorist, is better at angering Americans more than protecting them.
According to a 2012 report in Human Events, the TSA costs the American economy billions in lost business, both here and abroad. Foreigners don’t like coming here because they find American airports unfriendly and, The Wall Street Journal, in 2011, called the last decade “America’s Lost Decade of Tourism,” no thanks to the bullying thugs at the TSA. Think about this: the US Travel Association reports that two-out-of-five travelers are boycotting airports in favor of trains, cars and other forms of transportation. These people refuse to endure the indignity of being groped, manhandled, felt-up, robbed or even raped, as we have seen in recent years.

And if you think the TSA is going to remain solely at America’s airports, think again. They are covertly setting their sights on our highways and railways as well. And Congress? They look the other way as they award TSA more and more money, currently costing taxpayers $1.2 billion annually.* (We are told it's closer to $8 billion h/t JC)

We say all this to remind (and who really needs reminding?) that the TSA is not cleaning up their act, despite all the happy talk and promises to “do better.” They don’t do better. The same class of sociopathic imbeciles who can barely fit into their polyester uniforms are still on the same power trips that they were on when the devilish TSA was first created.

Bringing things closer to home, Red Dirt Report (which has had a number of bizarre encounters with these “agents” of Uncle Sam) recently spoke to a whistleblower who used to work at Will Rogers World Airport here in Oklahoma City.

This former airport insider, who we will identify as “Stacy,” told Red Dirt Report that for the time they worked at the airport, they “had a real hate-hate relationship with TSA.”

“I would watch them search people. The way they treated people. I found it very offensive,” Stacy said.
Stacy relayed a shocking incident that occurred approximately during the Thanksgiving 2012 holiday travel period.

Asked what the mother and daughter did next, Stacy, aware that a crime had taken place in the name of “security,” said that she was not supposed to really even be in that area of the airport at that time and so simply told them to file a complaint with TSA. There was nothing more Stacy could do.

The mother, Stacy noted, was clearly in a state of shock over what had taken place with her daughter.
Does Stacy know if the mother and daughter ever filed a report or followed up?

“She’s like a lot of people who say it won’t do any good. That’s why this stuff still goes on. The mother was afraid of the TSA and in shock. Some people are more aggressive and file reports and get in their face.

Some are passive. Some think that if I mess with these people, I’ll end up in jail.”

Asked by Red Dirt Report if Stacy knew who the alleged child molesters were, Stacy indicated that they could be positively identified. Those names were shared with Red Dirt Report and have been noted.

Stacy’s insider view gave the former airport employee a chance to see what really goes on. The “playing of favorites.” The infighting. The aggressive and rude behavior towards travelers. The fact that the local police hate the TSA.

“I filed plenty of complaints against the TSA for things they did,” Stacy said. “They would yell at children.

They would tell parents in front of their children that they were bad parents. They would harass people who were afraid of the (security) dogs. They would yell and belittle them.”

Children are routinely traumatized after an encounter with a TSA agent. Stacy said that children will often say they don't want to go on that trip to Disney World because they are now scared of the "bad man" in blue.

Stacy recounted the case of a notorious “behavior-detection officer” whom we will call “Jerry.”

“Oh boy. Behavioral detection officers are the worst,” said Stacy. “They take a week-long training course and practice session and then they think that qualifies them to detect anomalies in people’s behavior.”

Curiously, this “behavior” includes: people who blend in (they are flagged); people who cheerfully say they support the TSA’s efforts (they are flagged); and people who say they hate the TSA (they are definitely flagged).

Repeatedly calling Jerry a “really bad person” and “very unfriendly,” Stacy said that Jerry’s treatment of airport patrons was not that much different from the way a prison guard treats prisoners.

“(Jerry) would belittle people and say, ‘Didn’t you learn nothin’ in grade school?’ He’d put fingers in people’s face …” noted Stacy. And if you were on Jerry’s bad list he’d follow you around with a pen and notepad “taking notes.”

“It was just psychological warfare,” Stacy said.

One woman, who was from the Middle East, was going through security and indicated she was scared of the dogs, an animal viewed differently in that part of the world. Jerry marched up to the poor woman, stuck his finger in her face and said she would allow the dog to sniff her or she could just march right back out of the airport.

Another TSA agent, whom we will call Gloria, used to harass Stacy and other folks working for the same agency Stacy worked for. When Stacy would ask Gloria why she could get away with what she was doing (or not doing, as the case may be), Gloria would cryptically respond, “That’s classified.”

Stacy also said that the invasive, even sexual assaults that men, women and children often endure are simply seen as a necessary way to keep America safe.

Talking to a creepy TSA agent whom we will call Charlie, he told Stacy that “It’s okay to search children sexually because they’re potential terrorists” and that he got into this racket to “fight the terrorists.”

Stacy was appalled by these admissions, particularly when most children are told not to allow adults to touch them inappropriately.

Stacy added that Charlie fancied himself as "a ladies man" and would regularly flirt with airline ticket agents while on the clock.

Alarmingly, Stacy was told in confidence by a police officer that the TSA is currently trying to deputize Oklahoma City Police Department officers to be under their control, so that when TSA -which does not have arrest powers-  tells them to arrest someone they will have a “legal obligation to arrest someone.”*

At one point, Stacy was informed by a TSA representative that the lower-level TSA employees hated upper-echelon TSA folks like Charlie, Jerry and Gloria.

This same deranged TSA agent also told Stacy that he felt women who had had an abortion deserved to be executed.

There were a lot of accusations of racism, Stacy noted. African-American TSA agents complained about the way they were treated but would generally back down out of fear of losing their job.

While they might be aggressive in a “pack,” Stacy said they are really cowards when addressed one-on-one.
“It’s as if they never grew up emotionally,” Stacy said. “They are nothing more than thugs and bullies in the way they deal with people.”

Stacy's observations have been shared with others and those people also can't believe the outrageous stories they are told involving the TSA.

“I can’t begin to express the level of immaturity I witnessed while working there,” Stacy said. “It was like back in high school, that level of immaturity. They are given too much power and they destroy people’s lives.”

Scientist Predicts 60% Market Collapse

Martenson’s research suggests that the stock market has patterns, as seen in the above chart.

This proven pattern suggests the market goes through three common “tops.”

The first “top” was in 1999, followed by a 60% market decline. The second “top” was in 2007, again followed by a 60% market plunge. And a third top has now formed, and a 60% stock market drop is inevitable - and it could strike at any moment.
