The 5 Creepiest Surveillance Tactics Out There

Since the erosion of Americans’ civil liberties depends on high levels of public apathy, some of the most dangerous privacy breaches take place incrementally and under the radar; if it invites comparisons to Blade Runner or Orwell, then someone in the PR department didn’t do their job.

1. Buses and street cars that can hear what you say.

You can’t really go anywhere in America without being tracked by surveillance cameras. But seeing what people do is not enough; according to a report by the Daily, cities all over the country are literally bugging public transportation.

In San Francisco, city officials have plans to install surveillance cameras that record sound on 357 buses and trolley cars, the Daily reported. Eugene, Oregon and Columbus, Hartford and Athens, Georgia, also have audio recording plans in the works. The systems have the capacity to filter background noise and hone in on passengers’ conversations.

Officials have said that the system is merely intended to help resolve disputes between bus riders. San Francisco officials did not comment, but the Daily found a similar justification in procurement documents for the technology.

“The purpose of this project is to replace the existing video surveillance systems in SFMTA’s fleet of revenue vehicles with a reliable and technologically advanced system to increase passenger safety and improve reliability and maintainability of the system.”

It’s nice that the Department of Homeland Security, which covered the entire cost of San Francisco’s system, is so committed to ensuring pleasant bus rides for passengers.

2. Mannequins that can see you.

A handful of retailers in the US and Europe are installing mannequins in their stores that can determine customers’ age, gender and race, Bloomberg reported last month. Don’t worry, the face recognition-equipped camera is hidden, so there is no way to tell whether the giant plastic dolls in the store are watching you as you shop. The company that developed the mannequins (named EyeSee) sells their attributes thusly:

This special camera installed inside the mannequin’s head analyzes the facial features of people passing through the front and provides statistical and contextual information useful to the development of targeted marketing strategies. The embedded software can also provide other data such as the number of people passing in front of a window at certain times of the day.

They are also developing audio technology that can pick up key words from customer conversations to help them tailor their marketing plans. A screen that displays advertising geared specifically to each customers’ demographic is also in EyeSee’s future.

Really, wouldn’t the ideal marketing scenario be if human customers were replaced by mannequins programmed to buy everything the other mannequins were selling?

3. Biometric time clocks.

For too long, employers lacked the ability to extract every second of labor from their workers with scientific precision. Thanks to the wonders of face recognition technology, many employees in low-wage workplaces are now required to log in to work on face recognition readers instead of using key cards or codes.

Biometric time clocks like FaceIn, most commonly used at construction sites, create an avatar of the workers’ face that the machine keeps forever and that ages alongside the employee. Allegedly, it can tell twins apart.

Meanwhile, many fast food restaurants and retailers have started using biometric time clocks that record digital fingerprints, like the creepily named U.are.U digital fingerprint reader, to prevent employees from coming in late or giving out discounts.

4. Tagging children.

It’s probably best to train people in robotic discipline early, and many US schools, aided by surveillance technology vendors, are on it. Last month, a Texas sophomore sued her school district for making students carry RFID chips that tracked their movements, but that’s just the start.

School administrators all over the country use CCTV cameras, RFID chips, and GPS tracking to moniter where students go and what they do, as David Rosen reported for AlterNet. One pilot program for middle schoolers used GPS to make sure kids aren’t late:

Each school day, the delinquent students get an automated “wake-up” phone call reminding them that they need to get to school on time. In addition, five times a day they are required to enter a code that tracks their locations: as they leave for school, when they arrive at school, at lunchtime, when they leave school and at 8pm.

These students are also assigned an adult “coach” who calls them at least three times a week to see how they are doing and help them find effective ways to make sure they get to school.

5. Biometric databases.

Federal agencies ranging from the DoD to the FBI to the DHS are revamping their databases to include iris scans, voice patterning, measures of gait, face recognition, and records of scars and tattoos. They also have a mandate to indiscriminately share this information between agencies and with unnamed foreign entities

There exists a secretive Satanic elite, that consists of perhaps twelve men at the very top, who rule the world through banking and international finance. Publicly these men pretend to be humanists, but secretly they have to chosen to worship Lucifer. They are now in the process of the final take over, where they will bring in a one world government and one world economic system, beginning as early as 2018. Their primary means of achieving this goal is through control of the economy and through scientific mind control.

In the United States, the primary evidence for the success of their mind control operation is the fact that the thinking, belief systems, morality, behavior and religious beliefs of the average American have radically changed in just a few short decades. The elites have perfected social engineering to such an extent that they have now indoctrinated several generations of Americans into being anti-Christian, anti-American and Marxist in their belief systems.

The stealthy nature of their strategy has developed politicians at the highest level who are programmed like Manchurian candidates with synthetic personalities and they have developed Manchurian actors and entertainers as well.

Going back to the League of Nations, around 1918, the church was the special target for social engineering through the efforts of one of the Dulles brothers, who was financed by Rockefeller. Today the majority of American Christians and churches no longer believe in things like Satan, prophecy and the Antichrist, The Satanic elite know who their Master is and will follow His orders unto death. Unlike Christians who no longer go to church and read their Bibles, a highly organized and hierarchical army of Satanists faithfully perform their Satanic rituals which include human sacrifice of babies and the abduction of children, along with adults. Their rituals include the drinking of human blood, drug taking, brutal rape and sexual orgies. Many of the people at the highest levels of government, finance, media and culture participate in these Satanic orgies and rituals in deep underground in caves in Europe and other locations around the world.

For those who know how to recognize their Luciferian symbols, they are openly displayed everywhere. It is more than strange that some of the most powerful men in the world meet regularly at the Bohemian Grove and offer mock sacrifices of babies on a giant statue of Moloch or Baal, in Northern California. It is very revealing that the U.S. dollar has an Illuminati/occult pyramid, with the all-seeing eye of Lucifer and the words in Latin, Novus Ordo Seclorum or New Order of the Ages, which means New World Order printed on the back of it. In fact, the all-seeing eye of Lucifer is clearly seen on numerous multinational corporation logos along with a vast array of blatantly occult symbols.

One of the most famous Satanists of recent times was Aleister Crowley, who was called, “The Great Beast 666.” In 1904, Crowley received a supernatural communication from what he called a “praeterhuman intelligence.” This was the basis for Crowley’s book, The Book of the Law, upon which Crowley’s religious philosophy, Thelema was built. Crowley and his followers were accused of human sacrifice and other Satanic rituals. Aleister Crowley’s face is on the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club album and he is a kind of saint to the giants of the music industry. But according to declassified documents, Crowley worked with British Intelligence and high-ranking members of the American government. The O.T.O.-secret society he founded had some of the world’s most powerful and influential people of his time.

Today we see the counterculture revolution as the Presidents and Prime Ministers of many nations. But the counterculture revolution of the 1960’s was manufactured by a secret scientific and occult elite in Great Britain. This elite modeled their occult vision for America’s youth on the pagan cult ceremonies of the Egyptian and Roman Empires. The Egyptian Isis Priesthood of the third millennium B.C., had its roots in Babylon, as Isis is another name for the wife of Nimrod, who was originally called Semiramis.

These Babylonian occult ceremonies were essentially about mind control. The incantations, dances, beating of drums, use of psychedelic drugs and repetitive movements put people into deep trance states where they could be controlled.

The influence of Aleister Crowley’s Thelemic philosophy and his vision of a New Aeon in countless films, television programs and booksis a reminder of the powerful influence that this Satanist had on our global culture. In fact, prominent members of Crowley’s O.T.O. were (and still are) heavily involved in the production of Hollywood movies, embedding within their plots Thelemic tenets. Since the beginning, science fiction is a favored genre to expose viewers to what is called predictive programming.

Crowley’s vision of a New Aeon or New Age influenced the mass media, especially in the area of science fiction films and books. Allegedly, science fiction authors like Robert Heinlein, L. Ron Hubbard, Arthur C. Clarke and A.H. White helped shape Crowley’s vision of the future through a brain washing technique called predictive programming. A coming New World Order was downloaded into the American subconscious through predictive programming. When you see television and films in our time, you see numerous depictions of predictive programming and mind control at work, especially in the areas of science fiction and fantasy.

Crowley’s belief in a New Aeon matches perfectly with the Illuminati plan for a new world order ruled by a secret elite. The Illuminati Manifesto, upon which the Communist Manifesto got many of its ideas, is moving at lightning speed to establish a World Socialist Government. The characteristics of this government fit perfectly with the world government under Antichrist and the one world economic system, along with theone world religion created by the False Prophet in the Book of Revelation. It is not an accident that Mystery Babylon and Babylon the Great is mentioned numerous times in the Book of Revelation.

The first one world government, one world economic system and one world religion was started by Nimrod at the Tower of Babel, or ancient Babylon. The reason God judged Babylon, was because he could see that it was an attempt by man to become god, by building a tower to the stars. Babylon in its essence was about a revolution against God and an attempt by man to replace God with the collective. It is not by accident that Communism’s true origins are found in the occult teachings of the Illuminati and that the international bankers, who financed both the Bolshevik Revolution and Hitler, were part of the Illuminati. In fact, Karl Marx was a practicing member of a Satanic church and Lenin knew that his power came from the Illuminati.

Totalitarianism is always a revolution against the Kingdom of God –always! Every Communist, Socialist and National Socialist movement is the spirit of Antichrist attempting to overthrow the rule of God. It is not an accident that Lenin referred to the first revolutionary, meaning Satan. It is not a coincidence that Saul Alinksy’s book, “Rules for Radicals” was dedicated to Lucifer. Alinsky writes on his dedication page.

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history... the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.”

Theoretically, the pathway to a socialist dictatorship is no longer bloody revolution. Mind control is far more effective in destroying Christianity and establishing a totalitarian state. The science of mind control is now capable of mass brainwashing.

Aldous Huxley, the author of “Brave New World,” commented on effective mind control when he said, “A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.”

Nazi, Germany, Russia, Great Britain and the United States had all been experimenting with drugs for mind control purposes. Both the CIA and Russian intelligence competed for Nazi mind control scientists after World War II. Many of these mind control scientist were deeply involved in the occult and Satanism. Psychiatric reports proposed that LSD could break down existing behavior patterns and be used in reprogramming or brainwashing. Thus, the military’s MK ULTRA program began with the help of Dr. Aldous Huxley who had contact with the Great Beast 666, Aleister Crowley.

Interestingly, years later while speaking at the U.C. Berkley in 1962, Aldous Huxley outlined his vision for the “ultimate revolution,” which is a Luciferian and scientific dictatorship where people will be conditioned to enjoy their slavery. The counter culture revolution from Britain was launched immediately afterwards. Perhaps Huxley had advance knowledge?

“There will be, in the next generation or so, a pharmacological method of making people love their servitude, and producing dictatorship without tears, so to speak, producing a kind of painless concentration camp for entire societies, so that people will in fact have their liberties taken away from them, but will rather enjoy it, because they will be distracted from any desire to rebel by propaganda or brainwashing, or brainwashing enhanced by pharmacological methods. And this seems to be the final revolution.” Aldous Huxley, Tavistock Group, California Medical School, 1961.

Aldous Huxley was the grandson of Thomas H. Huxley, a founder of the Rhodes Roundtable group and a lifelong collaborator of Arnold Toynbee, another founder of the Rhodes Roundtable group, which birthed the Council on Foreign Relations in the U.S. While at Oxford, Aldous Huxley was one of the initiates in the "Children of the Sun," a Dionysian cult comprised of the children of Britain's Roundtable elite.

Aldous Huxley, along with his brother Julian, was mentored at Oxford by H.G. Wells, the head of British foreign intelligence during World War I and a famous author. H.G. Wells wrote, “The Open Conspiracy: Bluprints for a World Revolution.” In the "Open Conspiracy," Wells wrote of an elite group of men who would rule the world. Wells called his conspiracy a “one-world brain,” which functions like a “police of the mind.” H.G. Wells use of predictive programming in his popular novels (The Time Machine, The Island of Doctor Moreau, and so forth), and those of his disciples Aldous Huxley (Brave New World) and George Orwell (1984 and Animal Farm) were written as kind of religious attracts with a "mass appeal" for a one world government.

Unlike most historical figures who lose their relevancy as the years go by, Crowley’s influence is steadily increasing in the 21st century. This is not only a result of luck or natural evolution. Crowley and his O.T.O. maintained ties with high-level members of the British and American governments, as well as with influential figures in science, law and culture. The world’s elite have embraced Illuminist values, and are in perfect accord with Crowley’s Thelema –occult doctrine. These connections facilitated the mass dissemination and acceptance of his works in popular culture. Crowley did not only predict society’s abandonment of traditional religions and the embrace the Aeon of Horus; he was part of the motor that made these changes happen. The recent Olympic Ceremonies featured giant replicas of the Eye of Horus, which is the Eye of Lucifer, which is the same all-seeing eye of Satan on the back of the U.S. dollar.

The reality is that both the American culture and the global culture have been under an all-out assault by psychological warfare where the goal is to take prisoners captive and make them slaves through mind control and that is precisely what is happening now.

Now the only question to be asked is “What do we do about this all-out war by a Satanic elite who have every intention of either enslaving us or destroying us?” Don’t be deceived for a moment: that is exactly where this is going! The answer to that question sounds loud and clear in every one of our hearts. We already know that it is our duty before God to go to war spiritually and legally with the powers of darkness. Now, the only reason you might have a problem with that is, you don’t read your Bible. The Apostle Paul specifically used the words in Ephesians 6, “That our fight is not against flesh and blood…” The clearly implies that we are to be in a fight! Then further on the Apostle Paul tells us to wear the full armor of God and tells us how to wage war in the Spirit. There is absolutely no question here that the Apostle Paul is telling you that you are to be a spiritually armed soldier in the army of the Lord! Therefore it is obvious that you must now recognize that you are now enlisted and you are to follow orders!

There should be no confusion here. It was not all that long ago when the Christian churches proudly sang the hymn, “Onward Christian soldiers…marching as to war.” The church knew that it was in a spiritual war with the forces of Satan and that they were commanded to fight spiritually! Then the Apostle Paul teaches us that, “the weapons of our warfare are mighty through God.” We are to understand that we have been given the most powerful weapons in the universe and they are spiritual!

In Revelation 19, there is a description of the Lord Jesus Christ coming down from heaven with the armies of Heaven for the final battle of Armageddon where Christ, a conquering King, is going to destroy His enemies including Satan. It is imperative that you understand that you are already enlisted as a spiritual soldier in the armies of Heaven now! It is when you understand and accept that powerful truth that you will receive your marching orders. Satan or Lucifer is the temporary prince of this world. We have been given specific weapons to destroy the armies of Lucifer and to set the prisoners free.

You must understand that God is more powerful than Satan. Satan is attempting to lead a revolution against God on Earth with one third of the angels at this moment. Satan has deceived millions of men and women into serving him and that would include the Satanic elite.

Do you notice in the book of Revelation that when the Antichrist is spoken of, there is always the figure of a woman in the background? She is the penultimate; he is the ultimate. And here is what it will be…

“And,” said the women, “when we were burning sacrifices to the queen of heaven and were pouring out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands that we made for her sacrificial cakes in her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”

Verse 24…

(Acts 19) Paul spoke against the worship of Diana and it caused a riot. When you warn against the veneration of Mary you will get an angry and violent response. She is the current expression of the Queen of Heaven to whom they will be sacrificing cakes. What began with Fatima and Lourdes, Medjugorje, Guadalupe – all over the world – will continue to grow. Mount Carmel, in Israel, has been the site of many supposed apparitions of Mary. It also happens to be the very same place where Ashtaroth, a female goddess, was worshiped in the Bible. Catholics are going to get more and more into it and you will find Protestants going along with it. Already we have Evangelical bishops marching in Walsingham, England, in a procession to Mary. This will continue to grow worse.

God says, "I will not give My glory to another." (Is. 42:8) God says, "There is one intercessor between God and man, Jesus the Righteous." (1 Jn. 2:1) Their worship of Mary contradicts these things, among others. Understand that the thing they call “Mary” is not truly Mary; they only think it is she. Similarly, the Mormons call themselves the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints – but their Jesus Christ is not the one of the Bible. Their Jesus is the half-brother of Satan. The Mary of the Catholic Church is not the Mary of Scripture. I'm not speaking against the real Mary – she was the greatest woman who ever lived. She was the mother of the Messiah but she herself proclaimed her own need of a Savior in the Magnificat, in Luke 2:47: “My. . . spirit rejoices in God my Savior”. Just as in denouncing the Mormon “Jesus” I am not denouncing the real Jesus, so in denouncing the Catholic Mary I am not denouncing the real Mary. What they have comes straight from Babylon – the pagan Queen of Heaven. As the Mary-worship grows, you will find Evangelical Protestants going along with it in increasing numbers. That will be the next trend.

GOP Can't Live Without Social Conservatives

One of the largest elephants in the GOP's post-election room is the fate of Christian and other social conservatives. Party honchos can't just wish this problem away -- or, maybe they can.

There has been increasing hostility toward Christian involvement in politics, and the animus hasn't been solely from the left. To be sure, Democrats have taken the lead, demonizing conservative Christians as science-challenged scolds who don't care about women's "reproductive rights," but there is plenty of antipathy from certain elements within the Republican Party, as well.

Many establishment and some libertarian Republicans have long looked upon Christian conservatives with mild, condescending contempt. Party leaders from Barry Goldwater to Alan Simpson have openly derided Christians and lamented their negative influence on the party and on the overall political climate.

Even Ronald Reagan's warm embrace of faith-based conservatives didn't diminish the establishment's disdain for them, which forcibly reared its head over the Todd Akin and Rick Mourdock kerfuffles. So swift and dramatic was their descent on Akin following his "forcible rape" embarrassment that one could almost infer they were lying in wait for just such an excuse to marginalize outspoken Christian conservatives.

Don't get me wrong; I had serious doubts about Akin's electability after the comments, too, but the establishment's outrage wasn't limited to Akin (or Mourdock) or even to his rape comment. There was palpable disgust from certain quarters on the right over what they perceived as the lunacy of making social issues a part of the equation at all.

If my analysis is incorrect, then why do we hear so much conflation of the Akin and Mourdock incidents with the question of the viability of social conservatism in general? If the outrage over these two was simply limited to their comments, then why are they increasingly cited as Exhibits A and B in the case for purging social conservatism from the Republican Party?

The GOP's distaste for social conservatives this election cycle wasn't confined to the Akin affair. If you'll recall, Rick Santorum was the object of much scorn for his insistence on placing social issues front and center in his campaign. Some of the criticism was based on Santorum's perceived demeanor and sanctimony, but no small amount of it would have occurred even if Santorum had been cheerfully optimistic in his approach to these issues.

In fairness, we are in extraordinary times, and it's understandable that even some Reagan conservatives (those who subscribe to his three-legged stool of economic, foreign policy and social conservatism) became impatient with attempts to place social issues at the forefront. They were convinced that President Obama's fiscal and economic nightmares alone would ensure a Republican victory and there was no need to make controversial social issues a drag on the ticket.

But that excuse will not mollify many social conservatives, who believe not only that social issues are the most important matters facing the nation today, but that at the root of our economic problems is an underlying disintegration of the nation's moral fabric.

My purpose here, though, is not to debate the merits of the competing positions, but to point out that this growing intolerance for social issues by some in the GOP could result in a major schism, even a splintering of the party.

I am receiving emails and reading articles from Christian conservatives advocating a doubling down on social issues, some even suggesting that Christians redirect their focus away from politics and toward evangelism. I don't believe this represents a major segment of Christian conservatives presently, but if efforts persist in scapegoating and diminishing social conservatives, more will become alienated.

Social issues are like blood in the water to Democrats and their liberal media accomplices, witnessed by their effort to ensnare GOP rising star Marco Rubio in a scandal over the age of the Earth. Even Rubio's tempered response was uniformly maligned as evidence of his science-illiteracy and superstition. The right's failure to come to his defense guarantees further and stronger attacks.

It is no small irony that those urging a remake of the GOP to bring it in line with changing demographics could unwittingly alienate Hispanics and other minority recruits who might be receptive to social conservatism.

It is also ironic and a testament to the wholesale ineffectiveness of the Republican Party that it is cowering from potentially winnable social issues: abortion, same-sex marriage, Obama's assault on religious liberty and his phony war on women. Is there no issue on which the establishment will not cave in the end?

The Republican Party can choose to ostracize social conservatives and their issues, or try to purge them altogether from the party and its platform. But they better be careful what they wish for, because if they do, it will be the end of the party as we know it.

WHY ARE HUMAN FOSSILS SCARCE?

Psalm 18:30: "As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him."

One question often asked is why more human fossils are not found in older rocks. In order to become a fossil, a creature must be buried rapidly in sediment so that it does not decay. Aquatic animals would be much more likely to produce fossils in, say, a worldwide flood than land animals, and, indeed, geologists universally use small marine creatures as their "index fossils."

Usually, the smaller the creature is, the larger the population, and this is another reason why small marine fossils are so plentiful. They are found worldwide from almost the very lowest sedimentary rocks to those at the surface and even at mountaintops.

Generally speaking, the birds and the larger mammals, including man, have much smaller populations and are, indeed, found much less frequently. If all these deaths resulted from the Great Flood, then as the valleys filled with water, the larger animals would run for the safety of higher ground; small animals would be exhausted and drown, as would the birds who could not fly in the heavy 40-days of rain. Mankind would have survived until exhausted on floating vegetation.

For the most part, the drowned bodies of birds and small mammals, including man, would decompose quickly in the swirling waters and not be trapped in sediment. The larger animals, such as the dinosaurs, would easily be trapped in mud and rising sediment and, thus, be good candidates for fossilization.

The pattern of fossils actually found worldwide does not support the theory of evolution, but it does, indeed, support the biblical record of the Genesis Flood.

Is Light Slowing Down?

In earlier articles, we discussed the nature of time and the fallacy of linear and absolute time concepts. We now know that time is a physical property and varies with respect to mass, acceleration, and gravity.¹

Time is tied to our concepts of the curvature of space-time, and the velocity of light. The velocity of light is, in fact, a parameter which appears to affect almost every aspect of both cosmological physics on the large scale, as well as quantum physics in the particle scale. It is, of course, considered to be the fundamental constant of physics.

Historical Perspective

The early Greek philosophers generally followed Aristotle's belief that the speed of light was infinite. ² As late as 1600 a.d., Johannes Kepler, one of the fathers of modern astronomy, maintained the majority view that light was instantaneous in its travels. Rene Descartes, the highly influential scientist, mathematician and philosopher (who died in 1650), also strongly held to the belief in the instantaneous propagation of light. He strongly influenced the scientists of that period and those who followed.

Speed of Light Measured

In 1677 Olaf Roemer, the Danish astronomer, noted that the time elapsed between eclipses of Jupiter with its moons became shorter as the Earth moved closer to Jupiter and became longer as the Earth and Jupiter drew farther apart. This anomalous behavior could be accounted for by a finite speed of light.

Initially, Roemer's suggestion was hooted at. It took another half century for the notion to be accepted. In 1729 the British astronomer James Bradley's independent confirmation of Roemer's measurements finally ended the opposition to a finite value for the speed of light. Roemer's work, which had split the scientific community for 53 years, was finally vindicated.

Over the past 300 years, the velocity of light has been measured 163 times by 16 different methods. (As a Naval Academy graduate, I must point out that Albert Michelson, Class of 1873, measured the speed of light at the Academy. In 1881 he measured it as 299,853 km/sec. In 1907 he was the first American to receive the Nobel Prize in the sciences. In 1923 he measured it as 299,798 km/sec. In 1933, at Irvine, CA, as 299,774 km/sec.)

Recent Discovery

Australian physicist Barry Setterfield and mathematician Trevor Norman examined all of the available experimental measurements to date and have announced a discovery: the speed of light appears to have been slowing down over the years! [Roemer, 1657 (Io eclipse): +/- 307,600 5400 km/sec; Harvard, 1875 (same method): +/- 299,921 13 km/sec; NBS, 1983 (laser method): +/- 299,792.4586 0.0003 km/sec.] They all are approximately 186,000 miles/second; or about one foot/nanosecond.)³

While the margin of error improved over the years, the mean value has noticeably decreased. In fact, the bands of uncertainty hardly overlap.

As you would expect, these findings are highly controversial, especially to the more traditional physicists. However, many who scoffed at the idea initially have subsequently begun to take a closer look at the possibilities.

Alan Montgomery, the Canadian mathematician, has also analyzed the data statistically and has concluded that the decay of c, the velocity of light, has followed a cosecant-squared curve with a correlation coefficient of better than 99%.

A New Perspective

This curve would imply that the speed of light may have been 10-30% faster in the time of Christ; twice as fast in the days of Solomon; and four times as fast in the days of Abraham. It would imply that the velocity of light was more than 10 million times faster prior to 3000 b.c. This possibility would also totally alter our concepts of time and the age of the universe. The universe might actually be less than 10,000 years old!

Other Implications

The key properties of the vacuum of free space include electrical permittivity, magnetic permeability, zero-point energy, and intrinsic impedance. If any of these properties change isotopically, then both atomic behavior and the speed of light would vary throughout the universe.

The product of magnetic permeability and electrical permittivity is the reciprocal of c² . The permittivity of free space has not changed, but permeability has. It is related to the "stretching out" of free space at the time of creation. The "stretching" of the heavens is mentioned many times in the Bible. ⁴ Setterfield has analyzed 164 measurements of c, the velocity of light, gathered over the past 320 years, which reveal a statistically significant decay in c. When coupled with associated c-dependent "constants," the data includes some 639 values measured by 25 different methods.⁵ A comparison of dates in orbital time from history, archaeology, tree rings, etc., with atomic dates from a variety of radioactive isotopes has provided some 1228 data points over 4550 years.

Relaxation, or release, has set in, perhaps after the fall in Genesis 3. The shrinkage of free space could be the cause for the observed slowing down of the velocity of light. The "Redshift" may be caused by a decay of c. In fact, the universe may be contracting, not expanding.

A Tiff about Tifft

William Tifft, an astronomer at the University of Arizona, has been collecting data for about 20 years on redshifts, and it now appears that the universe might not be expanding. In the 1970's, Tifft noted that the redshift seemed to depend upon the type of galaxy that was emitting the light. Spiral galaxies tended to have higher redshifts than elliptical galaxies in the same cluster. Dimmer galaxies, higher redshifts than brighter ones.

Even more disturbing, Tifft has discovered that some clusters and pairs of galaxies exhibit only certain discrete values, rather than the more random distribution one would expect if the shifts were distance related. These redshifts appear in discrete quantum levels, similar to the energy states of subatomic particles in quantum physics. ⁶

These findings are not popular with astronomers or cosmologists, and emotions, even in physics, run deep. If the redshift is not a simple measure of velocity, then the conjectures about the Big Bang, and its derivative issues such as "dark" matter, ⁷ etc., tend to fall apart. The elaborate theoretical models of the Big Bang traditions may be headed for the scrap heap.

There is also the disturbing evidence that the redshifts change over time. There seems be some basic physics involved that has yet to be understood. These changes could be due to basic life cycles of galaxies, the nature of space or light itself, or other possibilities. ⁸

There have been a number of attempts to refute Tifft's observations. One recent one by Bruce Guthrie and William Napier, at the Royal Observatory in Edinburgh, measured the redshifts of 89 spiral galaxies. The results surprised the skeptics by uncovering data that supports the case for quantized redshifts.
If Setterfield proves correct, then this might also explain the quantization of the redshifts. Specific values of c govern the quantization of the emitted wave lengths, and quantized redshifts could result. ⁹

Radioactive Dating

Radioactive decay rates have changed. The decay of c affects the speed of nucleons in the atom, and the alpha particle escape frequency. Thus, all radioactive decay rates have decreased in proportion to c throughout the recent history of the universe. For many other reasons, the radio dating methods, carbon-14, potassium-argon, or any other atomic-clock method, are unreliable for very large ages.

Entropy

The Second Law of Thermodynamics indicates that in a closed system, as time flows forward, energy in the universe is becoming less and less available. "Entropy" is the measure of the state of "energy unavailability" in an energy-containing system. Entropy always increases.

Orderly systems of molecules represent low entropy systems. Orderly systems tend, on their own, to become disorderly and chaotic through the processes of decay and disintegration. With passage of time the normal tendency of things is for such systems to become disorderly, chaotic, and randomized. Their "entropy" increases.

We experience this in our daily routine: we spend effort to organize our desktop, our garage, our school locker. Soon, however, as "random" events take their toll, everything tends toward randomness--the entropy increases. To bring order out of chaos, we must put in outside energy or information: instructions, codes, blueprints, and effort. Order comes from chaos only if someone makes it happen. Time plus chance always leads toward chaos--not order--without the intervention of outside intelligence.

Genesis

In the beginning, there apparently was a close connection between the spiritual and physical realms, until the fall of man in Genesis 3.

The universe was pronounced "good"--free of defects--by the Creator. A high degree of order originally existed; that is, there was very low entropy.

But then Adam fell and the curse of sin began. Disorder and entropy began to increase. Could the slowing down of the speed of light have begun with the increase of entropy and, thus, both be a result of the curse brought about by sin?

The subsequent death, dying, decaying, and destroying processes affected not only man, but nature as well (Romans 8:19-23).

Caveat

The possibility that the speed of light is not a "constant" after all and has been slowing down is highly controversial and conjectural. Yet, some of the most dramatic changes in scientific perspective come only after much debate, vigorous opposition, and the like.

The entire field of physics is presently in a state of upheaval. The particle physicists have decided there is no causality, and that the universe has at least 10 dimensions. The redshift has been discovered to be quantized and that may shatter previous conceptions of our universe. Particle physics has totally altered our concepts of reality.

Many of today's scientific orthodoxies, however, originated from yesterday's unpopular heresies. The apparent decay in the velocity of light may be another of these controversial "heresies" looming on the horizon of modern physics. Only time will tell.

But the Bible changes not. It doesn't need to.

The Reality of Eternity

There is part of you that is not physical, and therefore has no time: it is eternal.

Our Creator has provided a destiny for us that is so fantastic that it is entirely beyond our own eligibility, or ability, to earn it. That is why God has provided for our eligibility through His Son. His plan of redemption is available for the asking. But it's up to us to accept it. Throughout eternity you will either be in the presence of God, or separated from Him.
