One dead after single-vehicle crash in Sand Springs

One person is dead after a single-vehicle wreck Saturday evening in Sand Springs, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed.

The crash happened along a stretch of South 177th West Avenue. Two people were in the vehicle when it crashed, killing one of them, trooper Dwight Durant said.

The condition of the other occupant and the details of the collision were not released.

One Dead In Sand Springs Wreck

OHP, Sand Springs Fire and EMSA are on the scene of a fatal wreck on 177th W. Ave near 35th St. South.
The accident occurred when a pickup was traveling northbound and lost control on gravel then went off the road to the west and hit a tree.

The driver of the pickup has been pronounced dead. No one else was in the truck

OHP investigated a deadly crash in Sand Springs.

It happened near 177th West Avenue and 35th Street South.
Troopers said one truck ran off the road and into a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
They do not believe alcohol was involved.
The victim was later identified as Joe Joseph, 45, of Quapaw.

Sand Springs, Okla. — A person is dead, following a single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Sand Springs.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol say the incident happened near 177th West Avenue and 35th Street South.
The unidentified driver ran off the road and hit a tree.  It's believed the driver was going too fast.
Troopers don't believe alcohol played a part in the crash.
As of early Sunday morning, the driver's age also hasn't been released.

Quapaw man identified as Sand Springs crash victim

SAND SPRINGS — A driver who died after crashing into a tree in Sand Springs on Saturday evening has been identified as a 45-year-old man from Quapaw. Joe Joseph was northbound on 177th West Avenue just north of 41st Street when his 2002 Ford Explorer departed the left side of the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree around 6:10 p.m., according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. Joseph was pinned inside the SUV for about 2½ hours and was pronounced dead at the scene. The report states he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation. — From Staff Reports
