The plant manager told Stew that Ford was getting heat over the carburetors so they had to be removed and taken to the city dump and destroyed with a bull dozer while they watched! Please spread the word about the criminal US government that has intentionally kept this technology from the people! Spread this information everywhere! High Mileage Carburetors
[ Many of us have heard that there were people years ago, back in the 60's(?), who developed very efficient "carburetors", that got 100 mpg or more. I do remember an article in Popular Mechanics back in the 1960's which even got the cover photo for the month, telling about a guy who built a carburetor for his sedan which vaporized the fuel and enabled his V8 to get over 100 mpg. -- editor, FEV ]
From Popular Science, December 1957, page 79:
“The fuel, of course, goes along in suspension.” “… Raw, indigestible fuel slobbers into the cylinders — into some more than others.” “… Slobbering engines are fuel hogs.”
“Gasoline in the liquid form does not even burn, much less, explode. Only the vapor that comes from the gasoline will burn. Therefore, to mix raw gasoline with air, and attempt to explode it in an internal combustion engine is a very wasteful, costly, and polluting practice. It also shortens the life of the engine and exhaust system.”

This carburetor was the invention of Charles Nelson Pogue, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
The Pogue carburetor system received widespread news coverage in 1935 and 1936.
“Test made with passenger automobiles indicates that cars equipped with this new carburetor will operate 200 miles per gallon. Although the exceptional mileage is of greatest importance, the new carburetor is said to have many other advantages in the way of reducing maintenance.”
In the course of our research, we have personally interviewed several older citizens (from Canada and the U.S.) who remember the Pogue test and widespread publicity…. some were eyewitnesses.

The Ogle Carburetor
Argosy Magazine had a five-page article about Tom Ogle and the media witnessed test of the “Oglemobile”. On that test run, Tom Ogle achieved more than 100 MPG in a 4,600 pound 1970 Ford Galaxie. Tom Ogle was granted patent # 4,177,779 on Dec. 11th, 1979

Production line of Fish carburetors in Daytona Beach, Florida about the time the U.S. Post Office was returning all Fish carburetor orders to the senders with “fraudulent” stamped on their order. The Post Office claimed there were no carburetors actually being produced.
Fish carburetors were not “super” carbs., but they were enough of an improvement that they were attacked, suppressed, and the business driven out of the country!
From 1947 to 1959 the Fish Carburetor Company of Daytona Beach, Florida manufactured over 125,000 high-mileage carburetors. The Fish carburetor averaged 20 percent better gas mileage and 30% more horsepower.
The Fish Carburetor was originally invented by John Robert Fish in America in the early Thirties. The carb works on pressure differential – not air speed, which means that it is almost instantly self adjusting & self compensating so any change in weather or altitude requires no adjustments or modifications as with conventional carbs. Hence all round suitability for cars, boats, aircraft, mountain or pressure charging use.
Instead of the usual one main fuel discharge point within the carburetor, the “Fish” has from SIX to TEN leading to vastly superior atomization and therefore much improved vaporization and since wet fuel DOES NOT burn (only the vapor), better and more complete combustion is ensured enabling more power to be extracted from the same amount of fuel.
The “Fish” was seen as a very serious threat to the “Original Equipment” establishment and could not be tolerated. J.R. suffered years of dirty tricks and persecution in an attempt to put him and his carburetor out of business. He even had his mail stopped on trumped up charges which were entirely UNTRUE and the case never went to court. It was simply a deliberate time wasting exercise to stop his cash flow and ruin him. He was not to be beaten and moved to Florida where he kept going by selling carbs to individuals including some wealthy big game fishermen.
At about that same time an up-and-coming local Stock Car driver got involved. The famous and almost legendary “Fireball Roberts” who drove the original M-1 car and Fish carburetor in place of the big 4 barrel “Works” carbs. that everyone else was using. He literally left them standing with his otherwise out-of-date car.
The “Works” organizations did not like it one bit and again the “dirty tricks” started. “Fireball Roberts” frequently made Pole Position and gained the trophy. Repeatedly, however, his race tires developed “mysterious problems” when leading the race convincingly. These “faults” suspiciously did not seem to occur in the “Works” cars.
After this, they were only sold by a company in Canada which sold them in Canada and Europe.
The Brown Carburetor Company of Draper, Utah manufactured almost 10,000 new Fish-design carburetors from 1981 to 1996.

This report describes the Bursley-Trask Fuel Adjuster . A centrifugal carburetor that partially gasifies the fuel droplets and make for marked efficiency. Their findings show an
“average of seven runs without the adjuster- – -19.2 miles per gallon…”
“average of five runs with the adjuster – - -34.2 miles per gallon.”
An added benefit of this invention was a decreased in carbon buildup and decreased pollution !

D. “The Search For A No-Waste Carburetor”

This report covers the account of an Indiana inventor whose carburetor is reported to get 60 miles per gallon of gasoline…. some say the figure is closer to 100 MPG. The M.I. reported witnessed the test conducted on a 17 year old Ford Station Wagon. The concept of this carburetion system is to accomplish a “complete vaporization of fuel”.

Already this report invention has received attention from several newspapers, magazines and radio/ television reports. Also the invention has drawn phone calls and personal; visits form the automobile industry, oil company representatives, Patent Office examiners and from the Federal Energy Research and Development Administration.
The Energy Research and Development Administration officials who viewed this invention gave a guarded evaluation, but was certain of one thing… and that is this was not a hoax.
What are the claims ?
With this invention, the eight cylinder engine will get 90 – 120 miles per gallon of gasoline. A six cylinder engine will average 140 – 200 miles per gallon , and a four cylinder engine will average 260 – 360 miles per gallon of gasoline !
All those involved in the Interstate highway test runs found no gimmicks.
The raw gasoline is first heated, then introduced into the engine in a warm gaseous form. Sophisticated absorptive surfaces, lines and tanks are required. Yet the invention can be easily adapted to the conventional car. The tests described in recent news reports where on a 1970 Ford with a V-8 engine.
One engineer from a nearby University was quoted to say, “I don’t know why somebody didn’t try this before. He’s eliminated the carburetor and achieved what the gasoline internal combustion engine was supposed to do all along – - – to operate off fumes. … He’s found a way to make it work.”
Only by reading the full context and looking at the photographs and charts can one really grasp the full significance and worth of such claims.
Personal Testimony
We include only the first name of these individuals to protect their privacy.
A. One Saturday morning we interviewed a purchasing agent employed at a local hospital. He said he drove from Los Angeles to Chicago and back in a 1964 Chevrolet with a V-8 engine. He estimated the average freeway speed was 70 miles per hour(in the 1960′s). The test car would constantly get 85 miles per gallon of gasoline. This was not a factory carburetor. It was a special-built system, invented by Mr. Michael ______.
B. One spring day we interviewed the owner of a service station in a small western Kansas town. He has been in the gas station business for over 40 years in the same location. One steady customer bought a 1949 Ford that consistently averaged over 80 miles per gallon of gasoline. The station owner saw this carburetor many times….. he does not doubt its existence.
C. Mr. D___ owns a tire and alignment garage. He personally knows of a man and his carburetor invention. The inventor was a friend and customer for years in this Oklahoma town. His car averaged 60 miles per gallon of gasoline.
We interview inventors:
D. Mr.S. told us about his invention. On a Mercury V-8 engine he attached his device and regularly attained 38 miles per gallon. He did not patent the invention. This man worked for a Ford dealership. Knowledge of his carburetor was widespread in this small western city. In this particular case, a Ford representative made a special trip to study the carburetor. He made drawings and diagrams. Mr. S. doesn’t know what the motor company has done with the idea.
E. Another Mr. S. (a retired mechanic) has a special device he has invented. Also, he modifies the stock carburetor. He has used this principle for years and on several vehciles. His present car is a 1973 Ford LTD with a V – 8 engine. His mileage is double the figure obtained by the factory carburetor.
F. As previously mentioned, we interviewed those involved with a very recent invention in which the V- 8 Ford test car gets over 100 miles per gallon of gasoline. Their test results were witnessed by many. Engineers and mechanics attest to the feasibility of this system.
PATENTS
There are quite a number of patents for such inventions on file in the U.S. Patent Office available for all who want to do a patent search.
We must conclude that with so many patents, tests and eye-witness accounts there must be more than just a grain of truth to the cover-ups and facts involved.
RESISTANCE
We know that what is written at this point draws great resistance from those engineers and mechanics who believed it requires a prescribed air/as mixture ratio to obtain a specific amount of power… and no more. In other words there is a limit as to how far one gallon of gasoline will propel a car (let’s say a large size V-8 auto). Usually this "limit" is the miles per gallon figured advertised by the auto manufacturer. A common mileage rating for a big car is "14 miles per highway".
One questioning engineer, upon learning about our research, wanted to study ourPogue patents. After a few days study his opinion has been changed. His conclusion now was “it certainly appears possible to greatly improve gas mileage with this different concept of carburetion”.
Can one gallon of gasoline propel a car 100 miles ?
How much power is there in one gallon of gasoline ?
“Were all the energy of one gallon of gasoline to be harnessed for the performance of a single purpose, experiments show that it could be made to provide sufficient heat to raise the temperature of 15,000 gallons of water one degree. Put to work, it could furnish enough force to lift 50,000 tons of coal one foot off the ground raise the Woolworth building five and a half inches. Applied to a small car, the power is great enough to elevated a light car 450 miles in
the air or to propel it at twenty miles an hour for 450 miles over a level road”. Popular Mechanics, July 1924, page 14.
A General Motors executive said this:
“There’s enough power in one gallon of gasoline, if you could utilize it all for mere car push, not taking into consideration engine friction and so forth, to drive a small car on a level paved road, at twenty miles an hour, from Chicago to Detroit, That’s about three hundred miles.” Collier’s October 5, 1929. page 10.
Here’s another way to look at the same concept.
“Only 10% of the heat of the gasoline was being converted into push for the car.” Science Digest , November 1942, page 6.
This of course means that 90% of the “heat energy” stored in a gallon of gasoline is wasted when it is pumped into the conventional automobile engine.
And:
“Today’s auto engine wastes 75% to 80% of the gasoline energy…” Science News Letter, October 2, 1948, page 221.
Or:
“The fuel, of course, goes along in suspension.” “… Raw, indigestible fuel slobbers into the cylinders — into some more than others.” “… Slobbering engines are fuel hogs.”

What about the cars of the 1970′s?
“At its best conventional automobile engine is an inefficient device. In terms of converting the energy content of gasoline into mechanical power, even a top-notch V-8 may throw away three horses out of every four.”
CONCLUSION
We must use the reasonable-man approach to this subject.
There is ample written documentation, even from the auto manufactures, that such inventions do in fact exist ….inventions that can greatly improve gasoline mileage …even to what we might consider the phenomenal.
“THE ELUSIVE HIGH MILEAGE CARBURETOR” By Larry D. Wagner, published by Valley Press, 1984, out of Puyallup Washington 98371. It is probably one of the best of all the books as to understanding catalytic cracking. He made an extensive study and accumulated similar evidence in his research. He claims his complex system got 85 M.P.G. in his 455 c.i. Buick and states most systems on other cars are obtaining an average 250% increase.
He was hassled badly by the E.P.A. who drove him into bankruptcy by their testings with additive laced fuels that always failed the tests.
He gives the histories of different units and relates that while giving a lecture he mentioned that a tank mechanic had told him about W W 2 use of the Pogue system and was interrupted by a ex-tank driver who confirmed the story. Later, at another lecture, another military driver claimed 50 M.P.G. using a secret box carburetor. He states also about Detroit production test super carbs that would slip out to the market. He states his fears of suppression and his hopes for the survival of this technology.

Most of these inventors did not understand what they were doing, it was more than just vaporizing or atomizing but cracking the gasoiline into natural gas and methanol using exhaust heat and the steel for the container as a catalyst Thermal catalytic cracking TCC is how oil refineries work. I did it and got 70 MPG in a 360 CI maxivan and analyzed in a university to prove natural gas until they threatened the professor. George Wiseman of British Columbia marketed a manual and kit parts for a cold bubble unit that claimed to double mileage. I purchased his stuff and gave it a try. I found it worked up to 50% gain but was too unreliable because of the set up. He was trying to make it simple enough to be marketed. He does explain somewhat how he ran a 292 c.i. engine at 1200 R.P.M. on 4 tablespoons of gasoline per hour, and how he states it would cost thousands of dollars to reproduce. He wanted to keep anything he marketed simple. I know it can not be simple, but it is possible with mass production to keep end of the line costs reasonable.

I took all I had learned and designed and built a system on my 1976 360 c.i. Dodge Maxi-van. It had a large catalytic chamber heated by the exhaust and electric elements powered by additional alternators capable of reaching this 747 degrees and beyond. I air pressure tested it at 100 lb. at 900 degrees. I also developed different systems to feed heated gasoline, air and steam. It was very difficult to get ratio pressures and temperatures stable. It was difficult to keep it balanced to run. The best I ever got was 72 M.P.G. for about a 5 mile run as measured by my mileage computer.

AMAZING RESULTS!
I have a 1963 ChevyII sedan 230cid 6cyl/2spd powerglide 1brl rochester carb.
The car weighs 2500 pounds aprox.
I’d like to make the car a daily driver with 30+ mpg or more. Hopefully without power lose, possible power gain!
Are these carbs avalible to the general public?
Are there modern carb applications that fit the 230 cid to achieve the same results?
My game plan so far: electronic ignition.

I lived in Noblesville, Indiana. When I was around 14 or 15, which would be 30 years ago now, on the local newscast covering the Indpls 500 mile race. The Local news did a story on a Crew chief for one of the race teams that made a car that got over 100 mpg. The car was on display, ironically enough, on Carburetion day at the 500. It would have been either channel, 6,8 or 13 in Indianapolis who did the story. The news crew had several other crew chiefs who inspected the car to make sure there w[ere no tricks] . . .

This would have been one of the years of 1976 – 1980, during the time of the Indianapolis 500. I lived within 30 miles of Indianapolis, so usually, around the time of the race, there is a lot of local news coverage on such an event. We had at that time, 3 local news channels, they were channel 6, 8 and 13. I cant remember which one did the story that I saw, I want to say channel 13 but I’m not sure. Anyway, there was one of the Race crews, who’s crew chief had designed an engine in a car that got over 100 mpg.
The local news crew went to the Motor Speedway track and did a story on the car engine. It was just a regular engine I believe, my understanding was that the Crew chief had created a much more efficient way of mixing the fuel. What the news crew did in the story, since they knew nothing about such thins, is they went to 3 other race teams, and requested that their crew chiefs verify that this was not some type of gimmick or trickery. They showed the crew chiefs going over the vehicle at the same time, all three of these experts confirmed after inspection that there was no type of trickery or anything along those lines. So they measured out exactly 1 Gallon of gas in a jug, it was a clear jug, so you could see it was just one gallon. They poured it into the small tank. They then drove the car around the Indianapolis track, then they drove it all around Indianapolis, they then came back to the Race track and drove the care until it ran out of gas. I cant remember some specifics, like who drove, the name of the news person, over time you forget some of the details. The track itself is a 2-1/2 mile track, so driving around it till it runs the last remaining gas out is no big deal. I cant remember the exact miles it got, but I know it was over a 100 mpg, like 110 or something like that.
The News people in the studio that showed the story ended the newscast buy saying that “the next step he(the inventor) must do before he can market this, is to apply to the EPA, because the device, since it deals with car emissions, must be approved by the EPA”. I never heard one other word about this again, ever!. There is no way that a story like this could not be verified and proven to be true, but then again, no one in the ruling elite want such things known.
Just a side note also, related to this same thing. I also remember there was some guy who came around the same time every year, took out a full page add in the Indianapolis Star/News who actually would sell ‘jet kits’ for different carburetors that would enable any car to get like 70 – 90 mpg. He did this every year and would even have the Part number in the add for the more popular kit models with prices. It was a few hundred dollars for the kits, if I remember right and I think about the same to attend his seminar.
At the time, the debate was not on whether such things were possible, but since gas was around .57cents a gallon, and the average person owned a car for like 4 years, the debate was, is it worth the money and the effort to mess with?
Now, fast forward 30 or so years, and everyone acts like none of it ever happened! Think about it, I remember in my auto mechanics from High School that we were told about 70% if the gas fuel mixture goes out the tail pipe as unburnt gas. I know that is at least somewhat true, if not completely so, because you can buy one of those little kits to put on your tail pipe, that will light it up with the pretty blue flame! No one will ever convince me, or any rational mind that the high grade gasoline’s of today could not be converted into vapor, since that is what actually burns anyway, for a much better fuel efficient vehicle.
P.S. Do some research in Cold fusion, there was a Scientist who wrote a very interesting article in Science Digest sometime ago about that, its always the same cover up, elitist BS it always is! Look at the recent Financial Bullshit!, only the tools of submission change, never the enslavement of man!

I am amazed that no designer of these carbs has taken the step of starting a private car company to further the use of these designs.
They don’t bother. Just start making them and putting them on every car that comes through the door! But, consider what happened to the Fish Carb. and there are over 1,000 of them in the photo above. -ed

of course using vapor to drive an engine is a lot more efficient However – due to additives the oil companies are adding to the gasoline, it is much more difficult to turn normal gasoline to vapor. you might consider ethanol 85 as a better candidate for a vapor engine

The problematic additives were tetra-ethyl lead and sulphur, and they are gone. John Weston is running his on fumes right now. Hope the corrupt oil co’s. have not gotten to him.
For a “proof of concept” do what Tom Ogle did to his lawn mower: “I was messing around with a lawn-mower when I accidentally knocked a hole in its fuel tank. I put a vacuum line running from the tank straight into the carburetor inlet. I just let it run and it kept running and running but the fuel level stayed the same. — it ran 96 hours on the fuel remaining in the mower’s small tank.”

I was researching (and built a) 100 mpg carburetors back in the late 70′s (maybe early eighties?). Here are my two cents worth to contribute . . .

You would probably never “get away” with installing a high mileage system on a car where I live in California. You would never pass a smog test. True, there would be virtually no exhaust coming out the tail pipe, but the first thing on the list is a visual inspection, and the engine (area) can not be modified. They don’t care if there is no pollutants coming out of the exhaust, they would never get that far on the inspection! So you would never get your car legally registered.
During the time of my research, a guy named Don Novak came through town giving seminars on high mileage concepts and retrofits. At the time, he lived in Southern California. I paid $100 to attend his seminar. Still got the manual from that seminar in (maybe) the late seventies. Maybe do a Google search using the key words: Don Novak 100 mpg.
I did build something after attending the seminar. I was a “kid” who knew how to weld and generally put things together. My truck was something like an early ’60′s Ford 150 with a 292 under the hood. It got something like 12 miles per gallon. After building my contraption, I increased the mileage to 25 to 30. I thought it was pretty good for a first try. But it was very unwieldily, and you’d never get it under the hood of an auto these days. I also had problems with gaskets leaking gasoline, and that sort of freaked me out, so I eventually removed it for fear of burning up.
Anyway, I know very high mileage can be achieved, but there are trade off’s that are virtually never talked about. I’ve now got “old age” and treachery on my side, so it wouldn’t be that difficult to conceal much of the required apparatus. Time and money are always in short supply, though. One easy way to start an experimental project would be to find an early model car with a lot more room under the hood. Having the exhaust and intake on the same side of the head makes it easy to recover exhaust heat for vaporizing the gasoline.
From what I understand, when your car starts to stall as it gets hotter, you’re on the right track . . . It is flooding due to too much vapor!

The Fish Carb. was not only “an improvement” but also out-performed everything else on the race track. The super-carburetors that are remembered had great performance and got up to 400 mpg: read about Pogue and Ogle. Even today, it is still being done – on today’s gasoline – read about John Weston’s success (see photo and link above)

How many mpg does a gas stove get? Gasoline engines average 25% efficiency. Detroit is making sure all the gas you buy is burned before it leaves the tailpipe. All other car makers worldwide work on the same principle, but don’t anybody suggest globalist conspiracy. So, where’s the discrepancy? 25% means usable horsepower. Simply put your car engine is 25% engine 75% stove and doing a really good job of heating up all outdoors. Can you say global warming?

Hi,
I have followed the news about carbon emissions and carbon footprint and the likes, took a look at the economical and environmental impact. Looks to me someone gives a “….” and are only after the “green” and power and control.
A working model of this carburetor? ummmmm yes a lot less cost to consumer, less pollution, etc. More for ourselves, sounds good. Let the world have it! if you please? its needed. Lots of scope in developing, poor country’s.

BTW to those who care to know my dad was intrigued by Ogle and so I picked this as my topic…

Do Google searches on Tom Ogle, Charles Pogue, Bruce McBurney, John Weston, etc., and on important phrases, and print the articles along with the URL’s that they came from – then put it all together … (and print some of the photos of Tom)
Johnson had nothing to do with carburetors so save him for your next report.

I am a retired auto mechanix instructor, currently driving a 1998 Suzuki 1.6 litre with a 5 speed, rarely achieve less than 40 mpg and have had as high as 55 mpg. Several tricks I use from hiper milers learned on the internet. Best of luck and keep looking, trying, and never give up. Rich

I’ve always been interested in “Fish”
carburetors and had a M2 that when I get time am going to install on a 61 Ford F250 with a 292 V8. I want to compare it to the stock 2bll. Holley that’s on it currently to see if there’s any difference in milage.

I have been hearing about these carbs for years and I always thought it to be just a myth. tonight for the first time I think its a lot more than that though some may still be a myth.
I once performed an experiment with a 70 ford meverick where I closed the carb and used an air brush to keep the car running for about 10 minutes then I did an anlyse to bring about a comparison to mpg and I came up with this well over 100 mpg. I never pursued it but I think after what I learned today especially when a pattent has been issued, I think I’m going back to pursue it again.

the fisher carb was developed in Agawam Ma.
I actrally lived near by for many years and never believed in it for many years. but since I have learned that yes it did exist and was developed there then the oil companies bought him out for apparantly 5 Million $$$ so he took the money and went to florida and started a business making carbs for boats. the oil companies tried to sue him but sense the contract stated that he would not pursue the business of making the carbs for cars and didn’t mention boats the oil companies lost in court. nevertheless the oil companies stayed on his case and eventually were able to put him out of business.
