How Obama's 'Big Data' Panel Threatens Google, Facebook
Those remarks are the first sign that the White House is actively worried about how much information so-called "big data" companies collect, analyze and retain about hundreds of millions of people. Aside from Google and Facebook, other "big data" companies include such household names as Amazon, Apple and Microsoft, but also behind-the-scenes data aggregators such as Acxiom and Dataium, which collect, package and resell information about the online and offline shopping habits of millions of customers.

A new national poll compiled by the much respected Quinnipiac University finds that a majority of Americans view the Obama administration as incompetent, while more Americans also believe the president himself is not honest or trustworthy.

Sitting in the shadow of King’s dream of a color-blind society that is united in harmony, Obama played the race card: “There’s no doubt that there’s some folks who just really dislike me because they don’t like the idea of a black President.” Of course Obama played the race card. Excepting those occasions when the target is someone like Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, world-renowned surgeon Ben Carson or some other black person who demonstrated the temerity to allow their accomplishments to speak for themselves...
