Last spring, most people would have guessed that this Ebola outbreak in West Africa would be over by the end of summer. Now, we're in the midst of the deadliest outbreak in history, which has lasted longer and spread further than anyone could have predicted. "Ebola may start to approach endemic status in some of the worst affected regions."

Liberia declares state of emergency over Ebola virus
Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has declared a state of emergency as the country grapples with an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus. Speaking on national television, she said some civil liberties might have to be suspended. The Ebola outbreak has also hit Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria, killing more than 930 people.


Ebola Killed 45 in 3 Days; Toll Nears 1K
The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa has risen to 932, the World Health Organization says. Most of the new deaths are coming from Liberia and Sierra Leone. The outbreak emerged in March in Guinea and shows no sign of slowing down.
