One of the most important end-time signs to keep tabs on is the moral condition of our nation. Since the sinful nature of the population is a key to driving events closer to the Tribulation hour, it’s vital to measure the moral condition of the world.
The problem with immorality starts with the church. Today, there is absolutely no leadership coming from the pulpit. I’ve gone back and read sermons from several decades ago, and I found some of the most popular sins cited were: Drunkenness, adultery, pride, and anger. Today, the wrongdoings covered on Christian TV are the sins of not loving yourself, and not trusting the Lord for some material blessing.
The secular world is driven by what could be called tabloid priorities. Last week, NBC news was discussing with Congresswoman Jane Harman about the news that the government-appointed Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board had found that the NSA’s phone spying program was illegal, but something more important suddenly came up.
“Congresswoman Harman, let me interrupt you just for a moment. We’ve got some breaking news out of Miami, stand by if you will,” host Andrea Mitchell said as she cut off the Congresswoman mid-sentence. “Right now in Miami, Justin Bieber has been arrested on a number of charges.”
An area that is seeing rapid moral collapse is the effort to make marijuana legal. For years, there has been a slow creep with the introduction of medical marijuana into what is now in 21 states. Once Colorado voters decided to allow for the recreational uses of the drug, the floodgates were opened. We now have politicians openly talking about the economic benefit of making pot legal, and the media constantly reinforcing the idea that growing marijuana is no different than any other agricultural business. It should be no wonder that fifty-five-percent of Americans support national legalization of marijuana.
The city of San Francisco has long been on the cutting edge of cultural moral decay. The love generation and parts of the drug epidemic can trace their roots back to that city. It should come as no great surprise that the San Francisco Department of Public Health has announced it is offering free crack pipes to heroin addicts to slow the spread Of HIV. The real surprise here is the fact that this story has gotten very little attention.
The nation’s music awards have long been a useful venue for measuring the moral health of society. The recent Grammy Awards telecast on CBS reached want I think, is a very significant milestone. Various elements of the show have fully become what they had previously only imitated.
A prime example is the performance of BeyoncĂ©. It was so pornographic in nature that it marked the point where singers had previously been criticized for acting like harlots. In this case, we had a harlot that happened to be acting like a singer. One person who watched her “booty-shaking” act said, “I felt like I should go out and exchange a ten dollar bill for ten ones.”
The performance that drew the strongest reaction was Katy Perry’s. In the past, there have been plenty of musical performances that contained occult symbolism. Perry’s presentation can be noted for having been the real thing. The stage show she put on for her song, “Dark Horse” had all the core elements of the Witches’ Sabbath. Perry was surrounded by demons as she danced around an upside down broomstick before being encircled by fire. Perry also wore clothing bearing an illuminated Knights Templar cross.
I think the moment where the mask truly came off was when they had a mass gay marriage. If you’re wondering what same-sex marriage has to do with an award show for music, you now know the true intention of the Grammy Awards. It has always been an advocate for immorality. We’ve now reached the stage where they can let it all hang out. Maybe next year, there will be a ceremony where people marry their pets.
A lot of people write about immorality in America, but few people talk about what the consequences are for our nation becoming a cesspool of wickedness. Debauchery has a price. As a nation becomes more evil, political and economic foundations naturally erode away. The loss of moral stability causes us to lose our liberties.
I think we have already reached the level of filth that ensures our nation will eventually become less free. Because the penalty for sin is often delayed, we’re just waiting for the results to show up. People need to realize: “God is slow to anger, but once He pours out his wrath, He can be equally slow to remove his judgment.”
“And the Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place; but they continually mocked the messengers of God, despised His words and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against His people, until there was no remedy” (2 Chronicles 36:15-16 ).
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them” (Romans 1:18, 19).
