Concerns as Israel Hit by Two Earthquakes in One Day
Israel experienced not one, but two earthquakes on Sunday, raising fears that a significant geological event was in the offing. Sunday's quakes followed one that occurred early Saturday morning, which was preceded by one last Thursday night. Eight days ago, an earthquake was felt in southern and central Israel, measuring at 6.4 on the Richter scale, with its epicenter beneath the Mediterranean about 40 kilometers under the sea bed, 70 kilometers west of Crete.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured the quake as a 4.6 on the Richter scale.  

Super Typhoon Francisco Becomes Earth's 3rd Category 5 Storm of 2013
Mighty Super Typhoon Francisco has intensified to become Earth's third Category 5 storm of 2013. The other two Cat 5s were Cyclone Phailin, which hit India earlier this month at Category 3 or 4 strength, killing 44 and causing at least $1 billion in damage, and Super Typhoon Usagi, which hit China just east of Hong Kong as a Category 2 storm on September 22, killing 50 and causing at least $3.8 billion in damage. 

Australia fires: NSW Blue Mountains fires 'could merge'
Fire fighters in Australia's New South Wales have worked throughout the day to battle bushfires across the state, amid fears three blazes could merge. New South Wales has been badly hit by bushfires after the hottest September on record. It has declared a state of emergency. Early on Monday, the fire commissioner said three fires near Lithgow could be at risk of joining into one fire front.  

Earthquakes rattle Idaho, Wyoming
The United States Geological Survey said a 3.3 magnitude quake early Saturday morning about 15 miles from Afton, Wyo., followed a 3.5 magnitude quake about 6 miles from Wilson, Wyo.., on Friday evening.  

SUNSPOTS OF INTEREST
Two large sunspot groups, AR1875 and AR1877,have emerged over the sun's eastern limb and they are turning toward Earth.
