MAJOR BRAND ADVERTISING TAKES A DECIDEDLY DARK TURN TOWARDS SATANISM
THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH
“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God..” 2 Timothy 3
Madison Avenue has never had your best interests at heart, and advertising has historically appealed to the inherent sin nature that resides in our flesh. Chocolate cakes that are “sinfully delicious”. Scantily-clad girls and the promise of a consequence-free good time have been employed to carry the “sex sells” banner for well over 100 years. But something things that I have seen recently as I have been paying attention in the places I shop and patronize are telling me that we have turned a corner. A very dark, evil corner.
I took my son out for wings and the local arcade to celebrate his eight grade graduation at a local Jacksonville favorite, Latitude 30. Bowling alley, arcade, good food and sports games provide for some wholesome family fun. (Yes, they have a bar and yes we ignore it. Try doing your grocery shopping only in supermarkets with no alcohol aisle.) Their new marketing campaign, however, stopped me dead in my tracks. I snapped the above photo from a video screen advertising their “Sindustry Sundays” drink specials at the bar. What are they selling exactly? SINdustry? Are we to understand that they are promoting not only the sin of drunkenness, but the actual industry of sin as something to be attained and reached for? And it’s on a Sunday, the Lord’s day of worship. If “sindustry” didn’t drive my point home, the fact that its on a Sunday surely does. But it didn’t stop there.
After eating, we went to the arcade to play some hoop throws, skeeball, and some really cool video driving games. As we walked into the arcade, my eyes glanced upon the pinball machine. This pinball machine, and it’s actually preaching a message:
What, you may ask, is a pinball machine like this doing in an arcade where there is mostly children? Perhaps that you have become so deadened to sin that something like this raises no red flags, sets off no alarm bells in your spirit. But honestly, I was terrified. Not afraid in my flesh, but scared to death in my spirit, and in my soul, which belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, as I watched a true Satanic spirit rising all across America. Maybe you will say to me that if I didn’t go to places like this, I wouldn’t see it. That maybe true, so lets look at what I saw in Publix while doing grocery shopping.
It is everywhere, and seemingly it has risen overnight. The Devil knows that his time is now, right now, and he is making the most of it. Now here’s the really scary part, what unsettles me the most. Christians see this each and everyday and say nothing. Why? Because it doesn’t bother them in the least. We have been called to be “salt and light” in this world, a witness for the Truth. If you see this and say nothing, do nothing, then you will have lost your witness and there is no need any longer for you to be on this earth. God just might kill you and call you home.
“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:2-4
So do this. As you go about your busy lives, we ask you to simply look around you and notice how dark this world really is becoming. Snap a photo of what you see, and post it somewhere with a bible verse telling people about Jesus Christ. Be a witness. Be salt, be light. Click here to receive your free box of gospel tracts so you can start your witnessing ministry right now. Do something for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Give the Lord a good reason to keep you here, or He may just pull you out of the game right now.
